The Power of the Subconscious Mind

What makes it different to other forms of therapy is that hypnosis taps into the subconscious mind, which holds about 90% of our thoughts and beliefs. This where our emotional trauma and learned behaviours are stored. By accessing the subconscious, hypnosis can rewire negative or destructive thought patterns using positive, helpful, and supportive suggestions to free you from your issues.

Hypnotherapy is very safe – you are aware at all times, you maintain complete control, and your mind will only let in suggestions that it sees as helpful. You cannot be influenced to do anything harmful or humiliating.

  • Hypnotherapy involves going into hypnosis – which is a heightened state of suggestibility – in order to receive suggestions that can potentially heal, transform and improve aspects of your life.

  • Hypnosis is simply a state of concentrated focus in which the conscious mind becomes less rigid and the subconscious mind is more open.

    In ‘stage hypnosis’, people volunteer to be hypnotised and get out of their normal comfort zone for audience entertainment purposes. However, the aim of hypnotherapy is to have therapeutic value.

    My particular hypnotherapy practice is a combination of therapy, meditative journeying, counselling and energy healing, all while your subconscious mind is in an open, suggestible state.

  • Going into hypnosis requires your cooperation and openness. No-one can hypnotise you if you don't want to be hypnotised. Nobody can "make you" go into a trance against your will.

    It's important to note, though, that we go into a trance all the time in our everyday lives, e.g. when we zombie out while watching TV; or when we’re driving a car on a very familiar route and kind of "switch off" and go on autopilot; or when we’re so concentrated on doing something that we lose track of time and are barely aware of what's going on around us. These are all examples of trance. It’s a very common state of mind!

  • Hypnosis feels slightly different to each person, but some common feelings and thought processes that people experience are: increased relaxation, heightened focus and more open-mindedness.

    Many clients report that hypnotherapy feel like doing a very insightful, helpful guided meditation.

  • A hypnotherapist can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do. Under hypnosis, you may be more open to suggestions, but you can never be forced to do anything, especially if it goes against your morals and values.

    It’s important to note that hypnotherapy, as the name suggests, is a modality intended for therapeutic and healing purposes, not for entertainment.

  • Since you’re awake and aware throughout the entire session, you recall about as much as you’d normally remember from a recent conversation or a film you just watched.

  • During a hypnotherapy session, you are likely to experience a number of realisations, insights and energetic and emotional shifts, so you’ll start to feel different right away.

    The transformation and healing continues for hours, days and weeks afterwards as your subconscious continues to integrate the lessons and insights.
